The festival committee is made up entirely of volunteers from all walks of life including musicians, people involved in the media, in finance and in the entertainment business. We get help at no charge from bodies like Drogheda on the Boyne Tourism, Drogheda Borough Council, local hoteliers and publicans.

The main focus of the festival was, at the start, on samba music, dance and costume but has gradually broadened to include other forms of Latin music and dance. In the last few years African drumming and dance has also become an important part of the festival. It is becoming a blend of many forms of carnival arts and street performance.
